Configuring Remote MailMax

To allow the hosting controller to use Mail Manager interface, Hosting Administrator needs to do few administrative settings. This topic describes these settings in detail.

Before configuring remote Mail, make sure

  1. Remote Mail is enabled.

  2. DCOM is configured properly.

  3. HC Service Manager is running on both primary and secondary machine.

Configuration On Primary Machine:

  1. In Start menu Programs folder, go to NT Web Hosting Controller and click Settings. The Settings utility dialog will appear.

  2. In Settings dialog, click on Servers tab and check the Mail on Remote Server check box.

  3. Enter the IP of the server where the Mail Server is running. e.g. 192.168.34.121.

Configuration On Secondary Machine:

  1. In Start menu Programs folder, go to NT Web Hosting Controller and click Settings. The Settings utility dialog will appear.

  2.  In Settings dialog, click on Mail tab and checkthe Enabled check box.

  3.  Select MailMax from Mail Server drop down list.

  4. Enter the MailMax virtual directory path in MailMax virtual Directory Path box. e.g. http://Computer/MailMax , where Computer is the name of your machine. ( See TIP  ).

  5. Enter the path of you hard drive, where you installed MailMax, in MailMax Install Path  box.

  6. Enter the DSN name of MailMax, in MailMax DSN box. ( See TIP at bottom ).

  7. Click on Servers Tab, enter the IP of the primary machine (where web server is installed) in Primary Server IP box.

  8. Click OK to apply new setting.

 

DSN name for MailMax 4.0 is MailMax2000 by default, while MailMax 3.x sets DSN MailMax by default.

MailMax creates MailMax as virtual directory .

You must confirm DSN and Virtual folder name for possible differences before putting in Settings dialog,
