Configure Remote DNS

To allow the hosting controller to use DNS Manager interface, Hosting Administrator needs to do few administrative settings. This topic describes these settings in detail.

Before configuring remote DNS make sure

  1. Remote DNS is enabled.

  2. DCOM is configured properly.

  3. HC Service Manager is running on both primary and secondary machine.

Configuration On Primary Machine:

  1. In Start menu Programs folder, go to NT Web Hosting Controller and click Settings. The Settings utility dialog will appear.

  2. In Settings dialog, click on Servers tab and check the DNS on Remote Server check box.

  3. Enter the IP of the server where the DNS is hosted. e.g. 192.168.34.121.

Configuration On Secondary Machine:

  1. In Start menu Programs folder, go to NT Web Hosting Controller and click Settings. The Settings utility dialog will appear.

  2. In Settings dialog, click on DNS tab and check the Enabled check box.

  3. Enter the following information in the fields displayed in DNS tab

  1. Click on Servers tab, enter the IP address of the primary machine in Primary Server IP box,

  2. Click OK to apply new setting.
